About Anna
As long as I can remember I’ve had a pencil or paintbrush in my hand. My love of creating has manifested in many different forms over the years: oil, acrylic, and watercolor painting, woodworking, set design, costuming, cake decorating, you name it. I have always identified as an artist and even as a child hoped to make as much of it as possible.
I discovered ceramics in 2019 and since then it has felt like I have found my biggest passion in life. I am currently in my final year at San Jose State studying Studio Art, a degree that I was not sure I deserved to pursue until quite recently. Over the past four years as an online creator, I have been honored with incredible support from those who have purchased work from my website. A special thank you goes out to anyone who has shown me support as an artist during the stage in my life where I am trying to see if my craft could go on to be my full time career in the future.
I work and teach at a ceramics studio in Santa Cruz, California - something I feel incredibly lucky to say. I teach courses in ceramic sculpture, wheel throwing, slab building and decorating techniques. I love it all and hope to be a long lasting member of the clay community here.
Through my various artistic processes, I am particularly passionate about creating work that advocates for proper animal husbandry. This a focus that I feel is often reflected in my art. In my opinion, some animals that are particularly overlooked in animal advocacy are small domestic pets like rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, and rats.
My work contains illustrations of these animals peacefully relaxing without a care in the world. These images are created from a place of understanding that, because pet industries often focus on profit over of responsible care, many animals face chronic neglect stemming from a lack of education. In reality, many bunnies never get to experience the feeling of soft fleece under their feet….only metal bars in their hutches that make the cage easier to clean at the end of the week.
My work illustrating these domestic animals living happily contrasts against the reality that many animals experience due to mistreatment or miseducation.
Humans are the reason that domestic rats, pigeons, hamsters and rabbits were bred into existence in the first place - and if we want to have them around for our enjoyment, we need to advocate not just for the things small animals need to survive, but what they need to thrive.
For a selection of my rabbit-themed crafts, 100% of profits will be donated to The Rabbit Haven in Santa Cruz, California - a local shelter I volunteer at regularly that holds adoption events, fosters houseless bunnies, and educates the community on responsible care practices.
Did you know that on average, a domestic rabbit’s lifespan will be cut in HALF if housed outdoors? Or, that female bunnies have an 80% risk of developing reproductive cancer by age 3 if not properly spayed? To help bunnies around the Bay Area live a higher quality life, please consider donating directly to The Rabbit Haven, donate to your own local rabbit rescue, or visit my home page to find the art pieces for my fundraiser :)
Thank you for your business and I hope you love the creative work I present on this site!
